Playing in purple for the FA CUP
At home was weird ...

David Gold said he would never change our club crest, and did.

Is this a slight indication that he may think about changing our colours?

Imagine ... ***k that

I was 8. I didn't go.

In 2006 I was 34, but of course we didn't go to Wemberley.

"She wore, she wore, she wore a claret ribbon"

Fucking typical. I don't think I'm ever going to be able to sing the proper version of that song.

Re: Playing in purple for the FA CUP
as has been said a few times on here, the purple & gold number is the first step towards some re-branding for the OS.
Gold (not david) will feature more and more as a trim on the home strip.

Re: Playing in purple for the FA CUP
Claret and blue are our colours and should always be worn at home. Away from home, they can wear pink with green spots for all I care, but wearing anything other than the home kit at home is wrong.

I get the marketing point to having a third kit - it needs to be worn to gain sales - but for fuck sake, there are 19 away games in the league alone, don't wear it at the Boleyn.

There's nothing wrong with changing something, as long as it is for the better.

The new crest is pony and a step backwards.

C&B suits them as much as anything else - they're reasonably distinctive colours, as opposed to red or blue etc.

Re: Playing in purple for the FA CUP
They won't change the colours. They are not some foreign businessmen coming in who don't know anything about the club.

They may be chasing dollar but they are fans so they're not going to ditch the Claret and Blue.

Like others have said I could see a bit more gold coming in (pardon the pun) but that's about it.

Re: Playing in purple for the FA CUP
You could see the retirement of the castle in terms of the east ham/ west ham thing. The castle was in east ham (just) and the hammers (ironworks) west ham. The two together make up Newham, which was constituted of the two in 1963. Now we are returning to west ham and the castle is redundant.

Re: Playing in purple for the FA CUP
I don't mind the new crest and it'll probably grow on loads of other people too once it's in use and is our badge. People don't like change. It's just crossed hammers at the end of the day.

The FA Cup kit is pretty irrelevant too. In fact the longer we wear it the better as it'll mean we're still in the competition.

Football is changing and we're doing our best to change with it and be involved with the big clubs. We're finally showing ambition, professionalism and spending money in the transfer market. Of course there are mistakes made, but the current owners have done so much more than any of their predecessors. I hope they make an absolute fortune from West Ham as it will mean we're successful.
